A tent under the bridge

Pass a stranger  holding a sign

Unknown and uncared for

A person has value

A person is a person

No matter their circumstances

We  pay to kill civilians in other country but won;t keep our own housed and fed

It’s getting worse

As our wealth gap grows

Will you fall through the cracks?

Will we have a house in a few months?

Something can be done

It’s a matter of caring enough to find the solution

Think with your heart

Don;t think with you fear

There are humans sleeping on our sidewalks

Living in a tent under your local bridge

Just trying to live and not die

To have food and not starve

To have water

To have heat

To be seen as a person, as the same as you and me

It’s not about me and it’s not about you

it’s about us

Will we choose to care about each other or not?

Choose to see each other, or not?

To love or not?

Inequality kills

It takes many hands to to fix our broken system

Anyone can end up without a permanent place to live

Just one paycheck away from kicked out of your house

The wealth gap keeps growing

It can swallow you whole

Our collective conscience is calling

Take one step today, walk as long as we must

Till we all have a home

Till we’re equally seen

We can’t fix it today

It takes time,

We have the  compassion and passion,

With time and action

We will see everyone has a place to call home

It could happen to anyone

To you or to me

Lose you job

Lose your home

And you’re no longer seen

We can see if we want

We can open our eyes

We can help

We can act

A solution is out there

Though we aren;t sure what it is

We look can till we find it

There is no excuse for this in a country so rich

,take the money from our wars

And put it towards good

Be hands that are caring

Be a heart that beats true

Take a stand for the houseless

Be a human who cares

Fix our long broken system

Give all people a home
